Booker T. Washington created a program to help blacks to become socially accepted but was it really an elitist program?
In my view, it was not an elitist program. If it were an elitist program Washington would never have tried to involve whites in his plan because they would most likely oppose the plan and stop funding him. Also, if it were an elitist program Washington would never have encouraged blacks to work with their hands and ignore parents pleas to not allow their children to work with their hands. Instead, he would have encouraged them to to avoid work at all costs and live by their wits instead.
In closing, the program Booker T. Washington created to help blacks was no part of an elitist program.
